13/Jan/2010 Kerry Long has told me that there are two photographic exhibitions on at present at the Graves Art Gallery, above the central library on Surrey Street. One is a National Portrait Gallery collection of portraits of comedians, and the other is of photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe (an aquired taste if you ask me, but don't take any notice of that). 27/Aug/2009 A Mrs Finlayson has contacted Ron Walker wondering if anyone in the society would be prepared to help her sort out a dozen or so wedding photos. They were taken on a Panasonic Lumix camera so I think they will be jpegs on an SD card. She is hoping that in a few cases people can be moved from one frame to another etc. Ron explained that doing that sort of thing is difficult and time consuming but it may well be that someone in the society might be interested. 27/Apr/2009 If you are a digital group member you may have noticed that Terry Irons and Steve Dorey have started to use a new piece of software called FastStone for showing slide show of digital images on screen. I have used it myself and found it very versatile and easy to use, and the good news is that it is free, although you can give them a donation if you find it very useful. If you want to find out more about it go to the FastStone web site.
27/Apr/2009 If you are having trouble with your printer there is a company in Sheffield that may be able to help. I was having trouble with my Epson 1290, with ink continually getting onto the print rollers and dirtying the prints, but they fixed that problem for me. The company is called GS Office Machines; click here for their web site. I have no connection with the company in any way; I am just a satisfied customer.

16/Oct/2008 The Ilford range of inkjet papers are now distributed in this country by a company called Omnijet. They have a special offer for camera clubs between now and the end of the year of around 20% off normal prices. 2/Oct/2008 Two new photographic competitions have been announced, one from the Royal Horticultural Society (which closes on 24th October) and the annual charity Sharow Photographic Competition, which closes in May 2009.
